It has a simple interface, a built-in tuner, and every effect you could imagine. It comes with dozens of presets, and you can always download the new ones ( or delete/modify the existing ones ) using the Fender Tone App.

Connecting to the phone is super easy, and it has the micro USB line out. Foot-switch gives you a few features which you, otherwise, wouldn’t have. It allows you to control presets, effects, and most notably – looper functionality.

Cons:

There may have been complaints on GT40 sound. Mustang GT40 sounds kinda bad and “boxy” in most YouTube videos. It’s a digital / modeling amp, and like we said earlier, the practice amp in the first place, and as such, it does its job perfectly.

VOX Valvetronix VT20X

VOX VT20X is a lightweight but powerful amp with a great sound. Like the previous one, it’s intended for small gigs or just a home practice. Yeah, it’s one of the modeling amps, but don’t underestimate it.

It comes with tons of presets and effects and with the Tone Room Software, which is free. You’ll be able to experience the whole new world of possibilities VT20X has to offer. The presets are named after songs ( eg. Day Tripper is obviously a classic Beatles tone ). In combination with the Vox amp mobile app, the experimentation potential with VOX Valvetronix VT20X is endless.

Cons:

The only con we could think of against this amp is that there are no accessory cables included. Only the AC Power Supply unit/cable, and the footswitch pedal is a bit expensive.

Conclusion

In the end, I must admit we don’t have a clear winner in this duel! It’s more about a personal choice. If you ask me I would opt-in for a VOX Valvetronix VT20X. The price is unbeatable, but that’s not the most important thing. This little amp is nice looking and has a great sound!
